Costs and Scholarships

In addition to housing, travel and personal expenses, UTLA students pay a program fee and standard UT tuition for a full-time course load. UTLA scholarships are available and students can apply financial aid toward their participation in the program.

The UTLA program fee covers operational costs of UTLA including, program management, the UTLA campus in Burbank, curriculum oversight, internship support and experiential learning opportunities that are available exclusively to UTLA students throughout the semester.

The UTLA program fee does not cover tuition or housing. Learn about UT Austin tuition and Los Angeles housing options.

Scholarships

The UTLA program offers scholarships to participating students each semester. Scholarship amounts vary but typically range from $2,500 - $6,000. The UTLA scholarship application is included as an optional section of the UTLA application, and all students are encouraged to apply.

Spring 2027 applicants will have access to the UTLA Unpaid Internship Fund. Once students get into UTLA, apply for $2,500 scholarships to help offset the cost of taking on an unpaid internship.

UTLA is a UT program with in-residence classes, and as such, students can apply most tuition assistance programs towards tuition and may be able to use other UT scholarships toward participation in the program. These scholarships may come from many places, including their colleges, departments and student organizations.

Financial Aid

Students may apply to the Office of Financial Aid for assistance; similar to study abroad programs, a student’s financial aid package may be adjusted to cover the additional cost of attending UTLA. To be eligible, students must have completed a FAFSA for the academic year of participation.
